Training and Development
AZERIKIMYA places strong emphasis on the development of highly qualified personnel, including continuous career growth for existing employees. The Company prioritises both theoretical and practical knowledge, especially in the context of rapidly evolving technologies in the digital era.
To support this, AZERIKIMYA’s Training, Education and Certification Department (TECD) delivers high-quality training programmes aligned with international standards across various professions.
Key activities of TECD include:
  • training employees in required technical and operational professions;
  • monitoring the Company’s demand for engineering and technical specialists;
  • training offshore personnel in accordance with international agreements, standards, and maritime conventions;
  • providing instruction on labour protection and safety rules;
  • conducting employee attestation (e.g. welding operators);
  • certification in line with international standards.
Currently, TECD operates several specialised training centres, including:
  • Offshore Maritime Safety Training Centre (OMSTC);
  • Personnel Development Centre (PDC);
  • Gala Training and Education Centre (GTEC);
  • Gobustan Regional Training Centre (GRTC);
  • Sumgayit Training and Education Centre (STEC);
  • Welder Certification Department.
As of August 1, 2023, a total of 159,812 participants, including 15,711 from external organisations, have completed training programmes and received certifications.

Sumgayit Training and Education Centre
Sumgayit Training and Education Centre (STEC)
The Sumgayit Training and Education Centre (STEC) of AZERIKIMYA’s Training, Education and Certification Department (TECD), established in 2012, provides highly qualified personnel training for industrial enterprises in Sumgayit, including Azerikimya Production Association, Urea Plant, SOCAR Polymer LLC and other facilities.
The centre is equipped with modern training facilities covering:
  • electrical equipment repair and maintenance;
  • control and measurement systems, automation;
  • welding;
  • occupational health and safety;
  • training for technicians, machinists, fitters and operators.
With the support of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, STEC also delivers specialised training in automatic control systems, including CENTUM and ProSafe platforms, aiming to introduce advanced technologies and enhance local expertise in automation.
Training Programmes
The centre provides training in the following professions:
  • electric gas welding;
  • automation and instrumentation;
  • compressor operator;
  • mechanic fitter;
  • operator;
  • electrical equipment specialist;
  • machinist;
  • other technical professions.
STEC also supports employee retraining, upskilling, and qualification upgrades.
Practical Training
Students gain hands-on experience through internships at the Azerikimya Ethylene-Polyethylene Plant. This allows early adaptation to real production environments, development of professional skills, and practical understanding of industrial processes.
In addition, students are trained in computer skills and foreign languages, alongside mandatory health, safety, and labour protection training.
Student Support
During their studies, participants are provided with:
  • special workwear;
  • monthly bursary;
  • free meals.
Admission Process
Admission is conducted through a competitive selection process organised by AZERIKIMYA’s HR Department, consisting of:
  1. application and eligibility screening;
  2. interview and document verification;
  3. test examination.
Candidates with the highest results are admitted to the training programmes.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
  • be a citizen of Azerbaijan;
  • be under 29 years of age;
  • have vocational, secondary specialised or complete secondary education;
  • meet military requirements (where applicable).
AZERIKIMYA

Personnel Training Centre
The AZERIKIMYA Personnel Training Centre (PTC) operates to train highly qualified national personnel and to support the development, upgrading, and retraining of the workforce for the modernisation of the oil and gas industry infrastructure.
The centre is equipped with advanced information technologies, modern laboratories, and well-developed training workshops.
Training Programmes
The centre offers training in a wide range of technical professions, including:
  • electric gas welding;
  • automation and instrumentation;
  • internal combustion engine technician;
  • crane and lifting operator;
  • compressor operator;
  • fitter mechanic;
  • technological facilities operator and fitter;
  • electrical equipment specialist;
  • drilling assistant;
  • oil and gas production operator;
  • rigging and lathe operations;
  • chemical laboratory assistant and other professions.
Overall, the centre provides training in more than 400 specialties.
Training StructureTraining programmes consist of:
  • 30% theoretical training (occupational safety, legislation basics, materials science, electrical engineering, technical drawing, English, IT, physical training);
  • 70% practical and industrial training, conducted by experienced instructors using modern equipment and facilities.
Students are provided with:
  • monthly bursary;
  • special workwear;
  • daily meals.


Additional Courses
The centre also delivers specialised courses, including:
  • SAP MM, FI, SD, PM, HR, PS modules;
  • SAP OpenText (electronic document management);
  • eco-driving simulator training under national carbon reduction initiatives (in cooperation with international organisations).

AZERIKIMYA
Gala Training and Education Centre
The Gala Training and Education Centre (GTEC) of AZERIKIMYA’s Training, Education and Certification Department (TECD), established in 2011, provides specialised training and advanced courses for civil defence personnel and emergency response teams.
The centre delivers training programmes for both AZERIKIMYA’s Security Department employees and personnel from other enterprises. These programmes include roles such as:
  • Team Chief and Guard Chief;
  • Security Guard and Shooter;
  • Emergency Rescue Teams;
  • Communication and warning brigades;
  • Firefighting and medical response units.
The main objective is to enhance professional skills and provide the knowledge required for effective service in both routine and emergency situations.
Training Areas
Courses cover a wide range of practical and theoretical topics, including:
  • access control procedures;
  • communication and teamwork;
  • psychological preparedness;
  • behaviour in extreme conditions;
  • first aid and emergency response;
  • occupational health and safety;
  • technical and physical safety;
  • industrial sanitation standards;
  • accident prevention and evacuation procedures.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
  • be a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • be under 29 years of age;
  • have vocational, secondary specialised, or complete secondary education;
  • meet military requirements (mandatory for certain professions such as Shooter).
AZERIKIMYA
Gobustan Regional Training Centre
The Gobustan Regional Training Centre (GRTC) of AZERIKIMYA’s Training, Education and Certification Department (TECD), operating since 2013, plays a key role in developing a highly skilled workforce.
The centre is accredited by the internationally recognised City & Guilds Group in three key areas:
  • Maintenance Technology;
  • Fabrication and Welding Technology;
  • Electrical and Electronics Technology.
GRTC is equipped with modern facilities, including welding workshops, drilling and production simulators, crane simulators, a VEBER-1 logging station, 3D welding simulators, and a PLC training room. Advanced welding technologies (automatic, semi-automatic, hand-arc, argon, etc.) enable both training and certification of welders in accordance with international standards.

Training Programmes
The centre provides training in the following professions:
  • electrical equipment operator and fitter;
  • oil and gas production operator;
  • drilling assistant;
  • instrumentation and automation technician;
  • compressor operator;
  • mechanic fitter;
  • laboratory assistant (chemical analysis);
  • logger;
  • technological facilities operator;
  • repair and maintenance specialist;
  • other technical professions.
