Gas Operations Department
  • In 2006
    the Gas Operations Department was established within Azerikimya on the basis of the former Gas Operations unit of the Marketing and Economic Operations Department to ensure the efficient implementation of technological processes related to the receipt, transportation, and delivery of natural gas.
  • In 2009
    In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, aimed at improving the structure of Azerikimya, the Gas Operations Department was reorganized and its scope of responsibilities expanded to align with the company’s strategic development objectives.
  • In 2013
    The Department’s organizational structure was strengthened by integrating key gas pipeline units, including corrosion protection, power supply, and communication systems, previously part of Azerigaz. This improved efficiency and centralized management.
    The Gas Operations Department manages gas volumes and ensures technical and metrological processes comply with regulatory standards. It oversees gas reception, transportation through the national system, and export operations to Georgia.
    It also handles domestic gas distribution under service agreements, supplying key entities such as Azerenergy, Azerigaz, and the Nakhchivan Gas Consumption Service, while performing all necessary technical and operational functions.
    In addition, the Department manages international gas purchase, sale, and swap agreements, cooperating with regional partners and coordinating gas exports to European markets through Azerikimya’s trading structures.
  • In 2023
    the Department implemented the provisions of a contract concerning gas volumes used in export energy generation, signed between Azerenergy OJSC and Azerikimya.
