Baku–Supsa Pipeline is a key route for transporting Azerbaijani oil to international markets. It runs from the
Sangachal Terminal in Azerbaijan to the
Supsa Terminal in Georgia.
The pipeline carries oil from the Caspian Sea to tankers at Supsa for shipment to Europe via the Bosphorus. Part of the oil is also used for domestic petrochemical production.
Construction started in 1996 and was completed in 1998, with the first shipment arriving at Supsa in April 1999. The pipeline crosses mountains up to 1,190 meters and has a daily capacity of 90,000 barrels (maximum 106,000 barrels/day). Its operational life is planned until 2026.
